Years ago when Toast was still owned by Adaptec, or was it Astarte, it had a sister product called Jam. Toast. Jam. Geddit?

Now Roxio has followed through on the metaphor with Crunch, its not-yet-announced but soon-to-be-launched media encoding application. From what we know so far, Crunch looks like Toast without the burning (the origin of the metaphor) tools for CD and DVD. Optical media is dying, of course. And Crunch is the sound that’s made when you eat Toast.
