Not for the first time, The Guardian has shown itself up when reporting on Apple and the Mac.
From today’s paper
Hype surrounding the phone, which has touch-screen keys rather than buttons, has contributed to a revival in demand for iMac notebook computers. Sales of iMacs took off by 34% in the final quarter to 2.16m, beating the previous quarterly record by 400,000.
I hardly need say anymore, but surely even at that late hour someone on the subs desk could have flagged up that although the iMac’s innards may be more often associated with notebook computers, it is very definitely a desktop, and that the 2.16m figure was Mac sales as a whole and not just either iMacs or notebooks?
Or is that too much to hope for?
